Small- Scale Domestic & International Trade Shows

Small- Scale Domestic & International Trade Shows grant covers 50% of total costs, including registration, booth fees, lodging, airfare, ground transportation, export training, compliance testing, website and material translations, and more. Each year, two applications can be submitted based on the timing of the first application, with awards ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 per year.

Mid-to-Large Scale Domestic & International Shows

Mid-to-Large Scale Domestic & International Shows grant, available in select states, covers 50% of total project costs for up to four attendees per show. Eligible expenses include:

Each application can cover up to four trade shows per year, with a maximum award of $50,000.

Eligible States

  • California

    FY24 $900,000

    To qualify for California’s STEP grant, your business must be a for-profit entity with significant operations in California, meet SBA small business size standards, have been operating for at least one year, be organized or incorporated in the U.S., export goods or services with at least 51% U.S. content, and be registered in California and in good standing.

  • Connecticut

    FY24 $240,000

    To be eligible for Connecticut’s STEP grant, applicants must export a product and seek to export goods or services of U.S. origin or with at least 51% U.S. content. Businesses must not be debarred or excluded from federal transactions and must be in good standing with the Connecticut Departments of Labor and Revenue Services.

  • Georgia

    FY24 $310,000

    The Georgia Export Grant offers 75% reimbursement for eligible and pre-approved export activities, up to the maximum allowed per activity. It is open to both current exporters and export-ready small businesses. Companies are strongly encouraged to submit detailed applications that outline their international strategy, current export capacity, ongoing export efforts, and goals for global expansion.

  • Iowa

    FY24 $300,000

    The ETAP/DTAP Export Grant Programs reimburse 75% of eligible expenses, including booth space or mission participation fees, booth furnishing rentals, construction, and utilities—up to a maximum of $4,000 per event. Companies may receive up to three grants during a funding period (combined between ETAP and DTAP).

  • Illinois

    FY24 $400,000

    Group Trade Missions offer select Illinois companies financial assistance to participate in international trade shows. Qualified businesses can receive support covering booth fees, group transportation, matchmaking services, interpreters, marketing materials, sample shipping, and more. Additionally, companies may be eligible for 25%–75% reimbursement of travel expenses—up to $5,000—for two representatives, including roundtrip economy airfare on a U.S. carrier and standard hotel accommodations.

  • Kentucky

    FY24 $400,000

    Kentucky's STEP financial support helps small businesses expand internationally by covering costs for export training, U.S. Commercial Service subscriptions, website globalization, international marketing, trade show participation, and export credit insurance.

  • Maine

    FY24 $275,000

    MITC offers funding for SBA-eligible Maine companies to support activities that help generate new international sales. Award amounts range from $5,000 to $10,000 and are determined through a competitive review process based on project details, company location, and prior funding received.

  • Montana

    FY24 $900,000

    Montana businesses can receive up to $30,000 annually through the State Trade Expansion Program (STEP), which reimburses 50–75% of eligible international marketing expenses—up to $10,000 per activity. Covered costs include trade show exhibitions, market research, compliance testing, translation, digital marketing, international travel, and more.

    The IMAGE program offers eligible companies up to $10,000 in grant funding per program year, covering 50% of qualified expenses (up to $20,000) for activities that support international export growth.

  • Oregon

    FY24 $425,00

    Eligible grant funding can cover key trade show expenses, including up to $2,000 in freight costs for equipment and exhibit materials, booth-related expenses (such as space rental, design, and setup), and up to $350 for local ground transportation. U.S.-based companies may also receive lodging per diem and airfare reimbursements for up to two employees—up to $500 per domestic ticket and $1,000 for international.

  • Rhode Island

    FY24 $150,000

    Companies may receive up to $30,000 in total awards per grant cycle, with a limit of 15 individual awards. Please note that travel expenses are not eligible for reimbursement under the RI-STEP program.

  • Vermont

    FY24 $249,000

    Eligible grant expenses may include trade show registration, booth setup and branding, virtual exhibit development, participation in foreign or virtual trade missions, translation services, technology and platform upgrades, matchmaking support, and shipping of product samples.

  • Washington

    FY24 $900,000

    The STEP Export Voucher grant program supports a wide range of export-related activities that help U.S. businesses expand into international markets. Eligible expenses include trade show fees (virtual or in-person), international travel, shipping product samples, translation and SEO tailored for foreign markets, international e-commerce costs, and digital marketing aimed at overseas audiences.

  • Wyoming

    FY24 $175,000

    To qualify, businesses must be incorporated and physically operating in Wyoming (not through a registered agent), have been in operation for at least one year, and possess the financial resources to cover trade-related expenses such as packaging, shipping, freight forwarding, and customs brokerage.
